Winning the Campsite of the Year 2025/2026 at the Cornwall Tourism Awards is a moment that fills us with so much pride and gratitude. This recognition is not just about being the best campsite in Cornwall; it celebrates a vision that challenged the norms of camping in the UK. We set out to create a place where people could enjoy the outdoors without compromise—offering large private, en-suite camping pitches, luxury facilities, and a peaceful environment that respects both nature and our guests’ need for space and comfort.
Our journey began back in 2017 when we took on Fairview Farm, a run-down Farmhouse and a collection of overgrown fields with so much potential, just waiting to be unlocked. Today, it stands as a Cornish campsite unlike any other, blending camping and glamping to welcome families, wildlife lovers, and dog owners alike. Here’s the story behind our unique experience and the community that made it possible.

Our Vision to offer something really different for camping in Cornwall
When we first saw Fairview Farm, it was clear this was not going to be a typical campsite. The fields were wild and untamed, but we imagined something different: a place where guests could have acres of space to themselves, with private camping pitches that included their own en-suite facilities. This was a bold idea in a camping industry where shared toilets and crowded pitches are the norm. Both Clare and I have been involved in running businesses before, but this one would be different. It has never had profit or turnover at the top of mind; instead, a passion for wildlife, value and putting smiles on people's faces would be our priority.
We wanted to create a unique experience that combined the freedom of camping with the comfort of luxury. Our guests can enjoy their own space, away from the noise and bustle of other families, making it perfect for those with sensitive pets, neurodivergent family members or anyone who needs peace and privacy. Being dog-friendly was also a priority, so your furry friends can enjoy the outdoors alongside you.
Roll on 8 years, and every time we read a lovely review from one of our guests, it just fills our hearts with joy. Each one we read makes the hard work more worthwhile.
Building a Community and a Sanctuary
Our success is built on the dedication of an incredible team, from volunteers to our paid team, and the support of friends and family who believed in our dream. Together, we transformed the land into a welcoming retreat that respects Cornwall’s natural beauty and wildlife. We are still so humbled by the dedication and attention to detail that all our team members give daily, and we are so grateful to have found them all.
One of our proudest achievements is the creation of our animal sanctuary on-site. We have rehomed alpacas, pygmy goats, and chickens, providing them with a safe and loving environment. At the top of our mind are always the five freedoms of the animals. Our conservation efforts extend beyond the animals: we are actively involved in re-wilding schemes, including planting over 2,000 trees and supporting a bee-keeping project that helps protect and expand the population of Cornish Black Bees, alongside protecting several rare, native species that we've discovered on site. We want to send a big thanks to the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, particularly Sue and Stewart, who have worked alongside us and really helped us in so many ways over the years
In 2025 we also started our Community Supported Agriculture project, where a keen group of local growers have got together and have been very busy setting up and starting to grow some amazing organic produce this year, in and around our new polytunnel. This has already been amazing, but will continue to expand and provide a healthy pastime for many, whilst yielding the healthiest of food to eat and share too. This area will also form part of our educational and farm experiences, where we aim to help show people just how simple and rewarding it can be to grow your own food organically and sustainably. Our poly-tunnel and veg beds are watered for free by a unique system of solar power and batteries, powering pumps drawing water from our natural spring, so other than our time and effort, and the odd tool or piece of equipment, we are producing the best quality food at hardly any cost - what a way to beat the Cost of Living Crisis! Get in touch if you would like to get involved or learn more.
These projects enrich the experience for our visitors, especially school-age groups who come for educational visits and animal encounters. It’s so rewarding to see children connect with nature and learn about wildlife and animal conservation firsthand.
A Place for Families and Multi-Generational Holidays
Our Cornwall campsite offers more than just camping. We blend bring-your-own camping with glamping options, making it easy for families with different needs to enjoy holidays together. Whether you want to pitch a tent or stay in a luxury glamping dome, everyone can find their perfect spot.
The private en-suite pitches mean families don’t have to share facilities or worry about noise from other groups. This creates a calm, relaxing atmosphere where you can focus on quality time with your loved ones. The large, private pitches give you room to breathe and enjoy the stunning Cornish countryside.
Exploring Cornwall from a Perfect Location
Stay Wild is ideally located for exploring both the north and south coasts of Cornwall. From rugged cliffs and sandy beaches to quaint fishing villages and historic sites, there is something for every outdoor enthusiast nearby.

Gratitude for Everyone Who Made This Possible
Reflecting on our journey from overgrown fields to a multi-award-winning campsite, we are deeply thankful for everyone who has supported us. Our friends and family invested time, energy, and resources to help bring this vision to life. Our team’s hard work and sacrifice have been the backbone of our success.
